Welcome to the Mile High Pines official website. For the past 70 years, we have been committed to serving churches and organizations by leasing facilities, providing adventure activities and home-cooked meals to your week-long or weekend camp or retreat. Mile High Pines is a Christian organization that opens it's doors to anyone who wants to plan a retreat or camp in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountain area. We've gained a reputation for providing friendly service, excellent food, and recognizing the need for groups to plan the program for their groups specific needs. Whether you're a group of 30 or 300 we'd love to serve you.

Write a camper while they're at Mile High Pines camp!

Please Note: it may take up 48 hours before your letter is delivered. All letters are given to the group leadership not to individual campers. We ask that you insure that there is no sensitive information in this message as it may be read by people other than the indended recipiant. Copies of letters are not kept. If a letter is recieved after the camper's departure it will not be saved.

How to Make a Reservation

To make a reservation for your group simply call with the following information:1. The date you want to reserve 2. The number of people you expect to attend camp3. You personal information (like your groups name and what you activities you might be interested in doing while you're here). Mile High Pines has been leasing its facilities for a long time. We have developed long-lasting relationships with many churches and organizations. We hope to be able to develop an outstanding relationship with your group. However, availability of dates is based on first-come-first serve. We are looking forward to working with you in the near future. Benefits of Touring

Although it is certainly not necessary to take a tour of camp before you book, we highly recommend it. Why? Because it gives you a great opportunity to meet our staff, see our facilities and help determine whether we would be a good fit for your group. Mile High Pines has a variety of lodging options on two different sides of camp that can be rented together or separately depending on your group's needs. And, no one knows those needs better than you. If you cannot make it to tour the camp then please check out our gallery page to view the cabins and meeting facilities. Also, please look at the Mile High Pines map (below). This map is designed to give you a good idea of how to make sleeping arrangements and of which meeting facilities work best for your needs. DJ Crider, our guest service coordinator, will work with you every step of the way; coordinating your facilities and your schedule to make for a truly fantastic camp experience. Planning Ahead

Add to the camp guide!Most of you have been running your camp program for a long time. You have your speaker picked out, hired a worship band, and have your favorite camp traditions perfectly scheduled to fit within your camp theme. You even know how to coordinate your counselors and campers in each cabin. However, for others, this is a new experience. Moreover, it can seem intimidating. That is why we are here to help!Mile High Pines has been in the camping ministry for a long time. As you can imagine, we have learned a few helpful tips along the way. Soon, we will be adding suggested camp games, sample camp schedules and even some fun activities based on age groups. Meanwhile, feel free to ask us for a recommendation while we compile our knowledge into an easy guide.If you have a recommendation for the types of things you'd like to see in this this guide, please send us a comment on our contact page. Before You Book

Before you book there are some things you should know. >Our PoliciesView a PDF of our policies at the bottom of the page.>We provide comfortable sleeping accommodations:We provide four different types of accommodations: The Summit Lodge (sleeps 26 people and features full bathrooms kitchen and common area.) Lower Pines Cabins (sleeps 14 to 40 people and features dorm style bathrooms. Some have common areas) Upper Pines Cabins (sleeps 10 people, bathhouses are centrally located nearby) VIP or Speakers Cabins (All cabins vary, however most sleep between 3 to 5, bedding is provided most have both a living space and a kitchen and feature a full size bath.) In combination of all our sleeping arrangements, we sleep up to 330 guests. >We provide delicious home-cooked meals:Our friendly food-service staff prepares all meals. Our food service manager always keeps you in mind when she is developing a menu. Whether you are a family camp, woman's retreat, high school group or are apart of a specific ethnicity our menus try to reflect your tastes buds. The number or meals and/or additional snacks will be arranged upon reservation. Any special dietary needs or restrictions can be noted at this time. In addition, when arranged in advance the snack bar can be opened. >We provide activities:Before your arrival, we hope you will take advantage of reserving our staff lead activities.if you are not interested in having our staff help you with activities, its not a problem. There are plenty of activities that your group can engage in without our involvement. Click to see a complete list of activities.>Things you MUST bring:1. A designated camp nurse. It is helpful but not necessary that your camp bring a designated camp nurse who is a registered nurse or certified in the first aid, but it is recommended. Hopefully, whoever you assign to be your designated nurse wont have to provide any care whatsoever. In the event of a minor injury or illness (like a cold), the nurse is required to give basic care and bring a first aid kit which includes bandages and aspirin. He or she is requested to fill out a report form in the event of injury or sickness. If further care is needed beyond the ability of the camp nurse, our Mile High Pines certified Health Supervisor would step in to either provide care or call the appropriate emergency care providers. 2. Bedding (unless you are staying in a Speaker's Cabin), towels, toiletries.

Upper Pines

Lower Pines

Summit Lodge

The cabins located on the Upper Pines side of camp sleep 10 people. They are heated and carpeted. The cabins do not have indoor restrooms, however, there are two centrally located bathhouses for your convenience. Per Person Costs:Reserve these cabins for just $19 a night!Add meals at $8 for breakfast, $9 for lunch, $10 for dinner.An average weekend (2 nights, 5 meals) on Upper Pines costs: $80 per person.An average week (4 nights, 11 meals) in the Uper Pines costs: $165 per person. The cabins located on the Lower Pines side of camp sleep 14 to 38 people. These large dorms have large bathroom areas with several shower and toilet stalls. Cabins are carpeted, heated, furnished with solid pine bunk beds and are located centrally to the Dining Hall and the Pine Center.Per Person Costs:Reserve these cabins for just $29 a night!Add meals at $8 for breakfast, $9 for lunch, $10 for dinner.An average weekend (2 nights, 5 meals) on Lower Pines costs: $99 per person.An average week (4 nights, 11 meals) on Lower Pines costs: $200 per person. The Summit lodge is located on the lower pines side of camp near the Dining Hall. The lodge features a kitchen, 7 bedrooms (sleeps 26 people). The lodge is the only lodging that features both twin and double sized bunk beds. The lodge has two shared bathrooms and a large common area with a fireplace.Per Person Costs:Reserve the lodge for just $35 a night!Add meals at $8 for breakfast, $9 for lunch, $10 for dinner.An average weekend (2 nights, 5 meals) in the Summit Lodge costs: $110 per person.An average week (4 nights, 11 meals) in the Summit Lodge costs: $230 per person. Executive Director

Meet Gabe Valencia
Gabe Valencia along with his wife, Rosemary, have been the at Mile High Pines since 1998. During Gabe's time as director he has helped further the mission of Christian camping by continuing to increase the number of people we serve and by being an active member of the camping community. Gabe has served on a number of boards and committees to represent camping ministry. He served as a board member for the CCCA (Christian Camp and Conference Association) and he was acting president of the pacific southwest section through the same organization, respectively. Currently, Gabe is president of the Barton Flats Camp Association. While serving in those organizations Gabe has always put Mile High Pines first.During his time at Mile High Pines, he has overseen building and renovation projects; including our newest building, the A.R.C. He has been a tremendous example of generosity by giving hundreds of children the opportunity to attend camp with no or low costs. He has also, overseen and developed a summer staff program to encourage and cultivate young leaders.Gabe, who grew up in Boyle Heights, committed his life to Christ at a camp at a young age. Throughout his life Gabe felt the call to ministry. Before God moved him to Mile High Pines, Gabe ministered to youth and adults in various ministries. He served as a youth pastor, coached basketball and lead many other bible studies. He continues to be a loving father of five children and is a proud grandfather. It is easy to see why Gabe is passionate about camp and its potentially life-changing experience for children of all ages.Gabe is one of the easiest people to spot in camp. He is the one beaming with joy as he engages campers in a friendly game of basketball, or while he engages the summer staff in daily devotions. While he is working hard at his desk, Gabe will occasionally keep his door open so he can hear the group's sessions and worship. Meet Rosemary Valencia
Rosemary Valencia, Gabe's loving wife of 30 years, has played an essential role at Mile High Pines. For a number of years she has served as the Food Service Director, HR manager and in other vital roles, including assisting in building and remodeling projects. Rosemary has been quite a visionary and has been able to successfully improve Mile High Pine's overall ascetic appearance, quality of food and staff moral.As a mother of five and grandmother of seven, it is no wonder that Rosemary is often referred to as "momma," by the staff and campers alike. Her encouraging nature and 30 years teaching experience make her a wonderful mentor and model of godly behavior. Her woman's bible study is often a highlight for many of the summer staff girls. In addition to volunteering her time at Mile High Pines, Rosemary also volunteers her time teaching for Dikaios Christian Educators Association. She is also the co-founder and an active administrator of her own private school program: Berean Christian School. Which was designed for Christian homeschool families. Rosemary began homeschooling her own children in 1988. Seeing the benefits and oportunities it gave her children, Rosemary established her role as an advocate of homeschooling. For several years Rosemary was the Southern California representative for the "unit study" style curriculum, Konos. During this time she advised many moms in deciding whether or not homeschooling was the right decision for their family.Rosemary, is very devoted to family. She spends a good deal of her time playing with her grandchildren. She is a fantastic cook, gracious hostest and and has a fervant love for documenting her travels and life through pictures.

Guest Service Coordinator

Meet DJ Crider
DJ Crider has been the at Mile High Pines since 2004. When he started at Mile High Pines he was initially placed in the kitchen because of his past history in the restaurant industry. But, it didn't take long to see DJ's excellence in serving the groups greater needs. Although, you still might catch DJ cooking a meal or two during your stay; He has become the Guest Service Coordinator and assists all our group's needs, from the first time they call to their final goodbyes.DJ is known by his fun-loving nature and hospitality. His past experience as a youth pastor allows him to understand the need to secure a fun, safe environment for campers and staff. Every year DJ and his wife open their home for friendly games of rockband or a game of charades. Additionally, DJ lead a mens get together last year. DJ's goal was to create a place for young men to be honest about their struggles. In the summer, DJ's many responsibilites increase as he also coordinates the A-team program. He assists in hiring, training and teaching morning devotions to the summer staff. He is often seen playing a game of basketball with the campers or hanging out with his family of five at the dining hall.909.794.2824

Operations Supervisor

Meet Lee Fulmer
Lee Fulmer started at Mile High Pines in 2006. When he first started at MHP he had no camp experience. In fact, Lee was a massage therapist by trade. Lee's eargerness and servants heart easily made him one of our most valuable staff members. He was quickly able to learn how to run a kitchen. And, for several years Lee was one of our lead cooks.Lee's true talent however, is not behind the grill, but with power tools. He has earned a reputation for for being the camp craftsmen, construction and all-around handyman. Not only can Lee improve or fix just about anything but he does so in the fashion of a leader. Lee is always offering to teach new or younger staff things that he's learned along the way. That knowledge goes far beyound the workplace. Ever year, he and his wife Christy open their home to the summer staff for weekly discipleship bible studies and fellowship. Lee has been teaching on discipleship and leadership for 4 years. His home is always a place of fellowship and growth. Lee is often viewed by the younger staff as a trusted friend and confident. Lee is also a proud father of 3, an avid motorcross fan and racer, and is currently the Water Plant Oporator for the Barton Flats Camp Assocation.

Luis Granados

Luis Granados
In June 2008, Luis accepted Christ as his personal savior.The very next month Luis started employment at Mile High Pines. What was supposed to be only a summer job has turned out to be a full time ministry for Luis. When he was first hired Lee Fulmer took Luis under his wing and discipled him both at workand in personal areas. Luis, grew a lot the first year, he was slowly begining to see what it means to daily pick-up his cross and follow Christ.Luis works in food service and in accommodations. He is a true servant and is often the first to volunteer to work extra time to cater to the groups needs.

Bryan Hostetler

Bryan Hostetler
Bryan has quite a name to live up to. The first Hostetler that worked for Mile High Pines was Bryan's grandfather, George. George built most of the buildings in camp today. Including the cabins on Lower Pines. George is like Mile High Pines royality and is certainly a living legion for those who know the camp history. Bryan's Grandmother, Joyce should not be forgotten. If George is royality that makes Joyice the queen. She, for several years volunteered her time and energey to camp. Doing whatever was needed, that included picking up trash on the grounds and swinging the occasional hammer. Bryan's dad, Carl, also spent some time at Mile High Pines. Following in his dad's foot steps, Carl is also a contractor. He was the obvious choice when we were decided on who should build the A.R.C. (a 9,000 sq. ft. meeting and activity room). Carl and his crew are also expected to help on futher building projects.Bryan, began to work at camp with his dad. They were both subcontracted in May of 2010. But, in nearingsummer 2011 Bryan made a decision to become a fulltime employee of the Mile High Pines ministry. Bryan took a paycut, moved into camp and started a life in ministry. A decision he says he never regrets. Ministry and service run deep within Bryan and his family. And we are looking forward to partnering with the hostetler family for generations to come.Bryan is a talent musician and rapper. He spends some of his free time recording new tracks. After a brief period of walking away from the Lord after High School, Bryan grew in confidence in his musical skills. Now he is using these skills to proclaim his new found relationship with Christ. Bryan is also a huge fan of basketball and spends his time of playing on the camp b-ball courts or watching the Lakers.

Before your arrival, we hope you will take advantage of reserving our staff lead activities. Have our staff cheer your group on as they climb a 45' rock tower. Have your group fearlessly jump off a 400 zip line or off the leap of faith. Get athletic with our staff! Learn to play Aeroball: the trampoline basketball game. If you are looking for something more leisurely, plan a hike to Jinks Lake for a picnic and canoeing. Alternatively, plan a relaxing day at the pool with one of our highly trained lifeguards. Maybe you would be interested in some team building, allow our staff to lead your group through a challenge course. If you are not interested in having our staff help you with activities, its not a problem. There are plenty of activities that your group can engage in without our involvement. You can choose from two outdoor and one indoor basketball and volleyball courts, plenty of table games like foosball and ping-pong, spend time on the swing sets, play horseshoes or you can use our challenge course to do your own version of team building activities. In the winter, you can bring your own sleds and slide down our sledding hill. Please look at the activities price sheet at the bottom of the page.

Summit Lodge
The Summit Lodge is located on the Lower Pines side of camp. It features a standard kictchen, complete with dishes. A cozy common place is furnished with large couches and an operational fireplace. Two full sized bathrooms accommodate the 26 campers the building can sleep. Double and twin size bunk beds are divided amonst the 7 seperate bedrooms.

Upper Pines Facilities
Upper Pines features 14 quant cabins which sleep 10 campers. Central bathhouses, and meeting facilities are conviently located. Upper Pines facilities can be rented in conjucntion with Lower Pines facilities based on your groups needs or price range.

Speakers cabins--or Pastors Cabins--are located on both Upper and Lower Pines sides of camp. Although all of the cabins differ in size and furnishings, most of them feature: a full restroom, a kitchen with refridgeration, a common space living room, a double or queen bed outfitted with bedding, additional twin bed with upond request bedding. Shepherds Rest, the cabin floor plan featured below, is located on Lower Pines.

Lower Pines Cabin
Lower Pines cabins sleep 14 to 36 people. These large dormitory style cabins are furnished with twin bunkbeds and house several restroom and shower stalls. Please check back soon for photos of floor plan.

Thank you for your interest in donating. Mile High Pines camp is a Christian, non-profit organization that aims to give our campers the oppertunity for rest, relfection, repentance and renewal. Since out begining nearly 70 years ago, Mile High Pines, has made an effort to allow guest groups to design their own program camps. Allowing youth ministers and pastors to tailor a program that would suit their individual groups needs. As a ministry and a partner with Brethern in Christ Church, our aim is that campers would be exposed to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in a powerful way during their stay. We hope that campers would make or renew life-long commitments to Christ in this unique moutain retreat. We've seen and heard the many amazing and often life-changing experiences people have had during their stay. We hope that as you partner with us, and donate either with your time or with your money, God would use it to further the mission of Mile High Pines and use it to bring glory to Him. FAQ's About DonatingQ: What does the money go to?A: There are several different things that your generous donations contribute to. Please feel free to ask about spesific projects or fund raisers we are currently hosting. Donations typically go to one of two projects: The first is improvement and maintaining of camp facilities. Your donation could mean a new carpet will be installled or it might help cover the cost of generator repairs. The second project is probably most important: scholarships for campers who otherwise could not afford camp. Every year Mile High Pines sponsers a number of campers with financial struggles. It is a tremendous joy to see any child come to camp regardless of their situation and your donations make that possible.Q: I don't have a PayPal account how can I give?A: If you don't have an account with PayPal, we would ask that you send either a check or cash payment via mail or delivery. ABOUTThe annual Christian homeschool family camp is a camp open to any homeschool family that wishes to grow closer to Christ and bond as a family. This is one of the only homeschool camp programs designed by homeschool families for homeschool families. We understand the hearts of a homeschool family and the need to get away from a daily routine and regroup. At Mile High Pines, we hope you'll become refreshed and recharged experiencing the wonders of God's creation together. We know everyone will be engaged in the sessions lead by national ly noted homeschool speakers. Who can attend?Any homeschool family that is looking to grow in their Christian faith. No matter what your family structure is. We welcome single parents and grandparents as well as all dads to join. Who are the speakers?The main session speaker for 2012 is yet to be announced. The break off seminar speaker is Christine Fulmer. Christine engages children of all ages in her hands on science and history classes. She has been teaching homeschool classes and been a speaker at homeschool camps for nearly a decade.What will do at a homeschool family camp?Hopefully, you'll spend a good about of time relaxing and having fun with all of your family members. You will also listen to a noteworthy speaker, engage in small hands-on learning sessions for all ages. You have optional times to rest or get active by taking a swim or climbing the rock tower. And every one of your children regardless of age will have a blast engaging with like-minded homeschool children. How much does it cost?Pricing depends your accomodations. An additional program cost will be added to the prices on the general price page. This cost will help cover speaker, worship team and other misc. program costs.
