The end of our 2016 missions trip

The end of our 2016 missions trip

The team safely arrived home Saturday evening. Our hearts are overflowing with love, joy and thanksgiving for the mighty work God performed while we were in Africa. Our lives are forever changed as we remember the people, the smiles and the beauty of Malawi. Even through the difficult situations we see God moving and bringing hope to His people. Thank you to all who prayed for and supported each team member during our time in Malawi and for the many months leading up to the t

Running Camp-in-a-Bag in Malawi Africa.

We finished our last day in Zomba by taking camp in a bag to a new village outside of Jali called Namisisi. However, this time we were able to pass the program on to our friends at the Passion Center and let them run the program, while providing whatever support they needed. We were greeted by the villagers with song and dance. After running the earth ball through the village we started the day with nearly 150 children and adults, by end of the day we had closer to 300. We ta

Serving Widows through Camp

Today the team, along with the Passion Center staff and Mulunguzi Community Church volunteers, traveled just outside of Jali to the village of Kwindimbule to join in with the Mercy Outreach program that visits and gives assistance to widows and their families. Upon arrival close to 20 women were lined up awaiting our arrival and by the time we parked the vehicles a few of the women began to sing and dance to welcome our group. The next 10 minutes were spent in joint song and
Hospital Outreach in Malawi

Hospital Outreach in Malawi

Today our team, along side some of the staff and volunteers from the Passion Center visited the children's ward of the community hospital here in Zomba. Experiencing the conditions of the hospital were overwhelming to say the least. Each ward contained approximately 50 beds lined up in sections of 6. It was an open room containing no privacy or separation for the patients and their families. Those who come to the hospital may have to wait 5-7 days before receiving treatment,
Safari in Malawi

Safari in Malawi

Today our team was able to take some of the Passion Center staff on a Safari. It was a beautifully perfect and relaxing day seeing God's creation up close. We spent a few hours floating down a river on a boat passing hippos, crocodiles, herds of elephant, eagles, water bucks and more!

Running Camp in Africa, and Child-Headed Households

Today we split into two groups. Group 1 decided to visit James, an 18 year old boy who is a part of the child headed households program with the Passion Center. James was orphaned at 8 years old. At that moment he became the provider for his 3 younger siblings (ages 7, 4 and 2). Years later, the Passion Center was made aware of this situation. If a person leaves their home they also leave the claim to the land and their standing in the community; As much as they are able, the
Hosting Church in Malawi

Hosting Church in Malawi

After a long week of travel and ministry all week, our team had a refreshing Sunday morning spent in beautiful fellowship with the brethren of Mulunguzi Community Church. Missionary Chris, who moved to Malawi from Ohio in January, taught Sunday School. We enjoyed the spirited worship songs of the Malawians and learned new songs and sang old hymns in English and Chichewa. Our team was given the opportunity to lead worship and didn't miss the opportunity to share classic camp

There was no promo for camp, just an Earthball and Jesus.

Day two began early with a team from Mile High Pines Camp and Palomar Camp rolling a 4ft earth ball through the villages to attract local children to our temporary day camp location. 200 children followed and we were able through Chase H. (from Palomar) and translator to give the gospel message. Much of the day was spent singing camp songs, playing field games, and making crafts. In the afternoon a missions BMX team from the USA joined us. By this time over 300 people had gat
Camp Staff Arrives in Malawi

Camp Staff Arrives in Malawi

All 15 team members arrived safely in Malawi yesterday afternoon and were able to get some much needed rest after many long hours of travel. Today we began with a brief team meeting and devotional time before heading to the Passion Center. Once there we were given a tour by Chris, a local missionary, who briefed us on the history and vision of the Passion Center. We learned that the orphanage is becoming more restricted by the local government. Neglect of child care has lead
